General FAQs

With Direct Primary Care (DPC), patients pay a monthly membership fee for primary care services. Medical insurance companies are not billed with a DPC plan. At Amazing Grace Family Medicine, your membership fee includes routine lab work every three months (if needed). A bill for your office visit CAN BE generated if you want to submit the bill to your medical insurance company for potential reimbursement, or for tax deduction purposes, as applicable, depending on the stipulations of your individual plan.

Your credit card will be kept on file through our secure vendor to make all payments hassle-free. For the recurring fees, you may select from multiple options (monthly, semi-annually, and annually). Each contract is one year long, with the option to cancel semi-annually. You will be charged the amount of your first payment as a deposit when you sign up, but if you change your mind and elect to cancel prior to December 1st, your initial payment will be refunded. Automatic payments will begin after December 1st according to the payment schedule you prefer.

Yes, but please check with your tax advisor. Our services are designed to be HSA and FSA compliant. If you wish to pay using your HSA or FSA, our advisors recommend you select the annual or semi-annual payment schedule.

Many of our patients choose to purchase medical insurance coverage that is separate from the Direct Primary Care plan offered at Amazing Grace Family medicine. If you think about medical insurance the way many people think about car insurance, it makes sense to pay for a monthly membership in our DPC plan as well as purchase separate medical insurance coverage.

Take a look at it this way: If your car insurance paid for things like tire rotations, oil changes, transmission flushes, and car washes, your insurance would probably be quite expensive. In most circumstances, car insurance is in place to help cover the cost of an expensive accident. For example, car insurance pays for the repair or replacement of your vehicle, and it covers major medical expenses for anyone who was injured in the accident.

In regard to medical insurance, you have a choice on the type of coverage you purchase. If you purchase medical insurance that covers routine and preventive care, it may be considerably more expensive than a medical insurance plan that only covers major expenses – such as emergencies, hospitalizations or expensive tests. Medical insurance plans that are designed to cover only major medical expenses can be significantly less expensive.

When you utilize Amazing Grace Family Medicine for preventive and routine medical care, you can consider purchasing a less expensive major medical insurance plan that is designed to cover you for major medical expenses. The money you save by purchasing a major medical insurance plan with a lower monthly premium can be used to pay your monthly membership fee at Amazing Grace Family Medicine – and still allow you to save money each month.

Please ask our helpful office staff for more information on how and why separate medical insurance coverage can be beneficial to you and your family. In some instances, your Health Savings Account (HSA) can be used to pay for your annual Direct Primary Care fee, which may provide you with a tax benefit. (Please consult with a tax professional for all tax-related questions related to your HSA and how it can be spent.)
